Jonas Wood is a Los Angeles-based contemporary artist known for his lush and intimate scenes of modern domesticity. His paintings, drawings, and prints cover a myriad of genres, such as domestic interiors, landscapes, still-life and sports scenes. Inspired by abstract colorists like Matisse, Picasso, and Keith Haring, Wood’s work is also influenced by his time spent as an assistant to painter Laura Owens and sculptor Matt Johnson; he also works closely with his partner, the pottery artist Shio Kusaka. With an emphasis on vivid color, flattened forms, and intricate patterns, Wood brings a distinct contemporary voice to a world of plants, pottery, and interior spaces.
