Jeff Koons is an American artist known for making art addressing commodification, consumption, celebrity, and spectacle, while pushing the boundaries of what is considered good taste. His work garnered attention in the 1980s as artists began to explore the value of art in an era of excessive wealth and indulgence. Taking cues from Andy Warhol, Koons’s work is produced in a factory-like studio. His paintings, prints, and sculptures often feature products or everyday objects elevated to the realm of fine art. His work is collected by major institutions internationally, and has sold for upwards of $90 million on the secondary market.
