Derriere Le Miroir

The art magazine Derriere Le Miroir was published by the famous French gallery owner and publisher,Aime Maeght. Derriere Le Miroir (french for "Behind the Mirror") was published from1946 until 1982. There were 253 issues published in total. In it's 36 year run, Derriere Le Miroir published original lithographs by many famous artists. Many of these original Lithographs are highly collected these days. Finding fully entact Derriere le Miroir Art Magazines in good condition is quite rare and some of the older Derriere Le Miroir publications go for thousands of dollars depending on the original lithographs published inside that issue. Some of the famous artists promoted by the Derriere Le Miroir art magazine were Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, Pierre Bonnard, Alexander Calder and Georges Braques. Derriere Le Miroir became the go-to catalogue for art lovers soon after it's inception in 1946. The art magazine was usually printed in an 11" x 15" format on white wove paper and and was designed with original lithographs and etchings as well as some reproductions accompanied by text by famous poets and writers such as Eluard, Prevert, Reverdy, and Jean Paul Satre.
